You are not your emotions.
Feel the emotion, acknowledge it,
but don’t become it.
—-From a talk by Jay Scherr
Note: Emotions are physical reactions (like a racing heart) that our thoughts transform to feelings. We can interrupt the loop before our mind is activated to look for reasons to support negative feelings. We become vigilant about what thoughts to challenge and let go, and what thoughts to embrace for our wellbeing.
Question: How can we be mindful about what thoughts to process and release, and what thoughts to reinforce, before they influence our actions?
